Book Review: Cowboy Town by Kasey Millstead

When I first saw the cover of Cowboy Town, I thought it was another BDSM novel. But boy, I was wrong!

Lesson learned? Do not judge the book by its cover! Yay!!

Moving on...

When I read the dedication I was like...

Yes, I was deeply saddened that I started to tear up. From that moment, I know I will love this book hard.

Cowboy Town is written in Eden's  (Edie) POV, our lovely heroine. An amazing and strong woman who started her adventure to have a break and think things over after discovering something from his ex, Matt. (oh! that jerk!) Their relationship is disastrous and I'm glad it ended there. When she finally decided to move out of Sydney, I was cheering for her. Been there, done that, so I know how it feels.

"My shoulders slumped and tears pricked my eyes. I felt like I'd found my nirvana - something I'd been searching for when I didn't even know I'd been searching and now the search is over"

When Eden reached Pine Creek (which she referred "HOME") she met new set of friends that made her stay more enjoyable. Then she met the edible and super hot cowboy, Jackson. 

"The best things in life need work. If you don't have to work for something, its not the best"

I love how their relationship grows. It wasn't an insta-love. I love how they took the time to acknowledge what they feel. I swooned over Jackson when he started to get Eden's attention. I love how he showed his affection to her. He makes her feel special. He proved to her that he's far better than his ex. He became vulnerable to her so she could learn to open up and trust again. 

For me, Cowboy Town is about 

Finding yourself and the happiness you truly deserve. Finding yourself is a journey. There will be hurdles along the way. But through it all, when you finally found what you're looking for, it will be worth it. You just have to open yourself to more possibilities that will make a drastic change to your life. 

And if there is one thing I learned from reading this book

It is to TRUST YOUR PARTNERS.. 

Communicate with them, Never ever let your feelings flowed all over the place. Do not jump into conclusions. If you want to know something, ask them directly that way you could avoid misunderstandings. 

Before I end this, I would like to commend Ms. Kasey Millstead for this amazing book. It's her first novel that I'd read and I'm glad it didn't disappoint.

Overall, Cowboy Town is beautifully written. It’s a fast and engaging read that keeps me interested from page one until the end. There are no dull moments, people! It’s a mix of everything. I caught myself crying, laughing, and getting pissed and tense. The characters were so relatable. Their humorous and sarcastic comebacks had me laughing out loud. It feels like you're talking with them instead of reading. Their actions seem real and between those lines, you will learn something. The setting is perfect. I love the country feel. It’s vivid and all I wanted to do is pack my things and move to Pine Creek.

Book Review: Girl with Guitar by Caisey Quinn

You, Caisey Quinn, just made an awesome debut novel. I was hooked that I had to finish it as soon as I can. I SOO LOVED IT!!

Let me tell you the reasons why:

COVER. It's gorgeous! *coughs* Emily Tippetts just made an amazing job. When you look at the pretty cover, you don't have to think twice. It says it all. A GIRL WITH GUITAR. Definitely involves a country music and romance!

PLOT. You will love the transition of the events from start to finish. While reading it, you can actually point out where the story is heading. I also like the twist and turns that comes along.

SETTINGS. I love the fact that this book is a country romance. I don't want to be biased here but there's something in it that makes me feel at home. So this gain an extra points for me! Teeeheee!!

CHARACTERS. It was well depicted. They both have strong characteristics that you will actually love (or hate). They seemed real and relatable. You will see them grow as an individual, which I liked the most.

Okay, more ranting here!

Girl with Guitar is painstakingly beautiful for crying out loud! I was held captivated from the moment I started reading it. I haven't finish prologue yet but I was already tearing up. How can you blame me, it was an emotional start. 

I really admired Kylie, our lovely heroine, for being strong and determined in chasing her dreams despite the fact that she had nothing. She braves the streets of Nashville to find a greener pasture. She didn't give up until she found an opportunity that brought changes to her life and it made me feel oh so proud of her. 

As for Trace Corbin, I loved how he evolves throughout the story. I hated him at first for being a jerk! Dang! I wanted to punch him, really. But I learned to love him after knowing where he's coming from. He had his own demons to fight with and I love that he finally found someone who will tame him. 

I love Kylie and Trace as a couple. I nearly had a heart attack. I thought they would never make it. They had been through a lot. I'm glad at the end, they surpassed all the obstacles that they endured along the way. There are some parts in the book that made me cry and laughed with them. Moments that made my stomach tighten and gave me a heavy feeling. 

What I learned after reading this?

Dreams do come true if you just believe in yourself and give your best in everything that you do. Sure,there will be obstacles along the way,but don't let it deter you. Nobody said that it would be easy but if you have the faith, willpower, courage and determination then definitely you're one step closer in reaching your goals. 

  Over all, this book is beautifully written! It is a heart-warming read. If you're a dreamer and needed something for inspiration, then this one is for you. I highly recommend this!

If you lost a loved one, then this book is for you. Forever Changed is a story about loss, forgiveness, moving on and finding love and happiness amidst the storm. It all started when Kassandra's father died in a car accident. I haven't finish Chapter one yet but I'm already in the verge of tears. It was truly heart breaking. I could feel the pain and the heavy burden she was carrying. It felt real.

What happened to Kass family was life changing. I must say that it was an eye-opener.  She was living in a life where everything comes handy. But when her father died, everything changed. She evolves from a girl who's bitchy and selfish to a mature and more responsible teenage lady. She gave up something she loves the most for the sake of her family. She turned her back to the popularity she used to have and to her so-called friends who apparently bailed her out for being so dramatic for losing her father.

Then came along Maddon Johnson. The son of the infamous man who causes the tragic accident that killed Kassandra's father. She loathed him but it changed when they finally got the chance to know each other. They fell in love. It was a forbidden and against all odds, but they fought for it. I remembered, Kassandra's questioning herself if it’s possible to fall in love with just a week, I say it is! I always believe in love at first sight.

Before I forget, I want to point out Drake and Carrie. I love them! They are carefree individuals. I love how they treat each other. I find them cool that I wanted to join them and have some fun. They are the friends who will stab you in the front but will never ever leave you. 

I love everything about this novel especially the strong characters that Ms. King made. I love how they evolved from the start of the story to the end. They both change their habits for the better and I admired Kass for being strong and Maddon for being man enough and doing the right thing. What happened to them wasn't easy but I'm glad they surpassed it.

Before I end this, I would like to share these things that I've learned while reading Forever Changed. It pretty summarizes the thoughts I had for this book.

1. LIFE IS SHORT. It may sound cliché, but its true. So live your life to the fullest. Show everyone you love how much you appreciate, care and love him or her. Make them feel special. NEVER EVER take them for granted cause you'll never know what will happens next. Don't make yourself regret for not doing the right things and for letting the time slipped away and the words be left unsaid.

2. HARD TIMES WILL ALWAYS REVEAL YOUR TRUE FRIENDS. Choose your friends wisely. Find friends who will never let you down. Someone who will be there for you through ups and downs. The one who will accept you for who you are. The one who will understands you and will never judge you no matter what.

3. DON'T BE AFRAID OF CHANGE. Find yourself and define it on your own terms. Avoid fixating on your past and let yourself grow, it will help you to improve and become wiser. Stop caring about what people might say about you, after all you are not born to please them, just shrug and leave it at that, people will eventually respect you for it.

4. THERE'S NOTHING WRONG IN ASKING HELP. Reach out to others for support. Don't try to get through hard times on your own. Seek help to people who have been through the same thing as they can be especially helpful.  Surround yourself with people who are positive and will listen to you.

And lastly, LIFE GOES ON. Life can be so hard at times. It can make you or break you. It will wear you out but you need to find strength and keep moving forward. Open your heart and trust that everything happens for a reason. Walk through the pain and don't be afraid of falling, it is just a test of determination and resolve. Life is a cycle. It will not stop for you. At the end of the day, no matter what you've been through, it will continue to go on.

Over all, Forever Changed is amazing. And I'm telling you guys that it’s worth your time. I definitely recommend this gorgeous read. I'm sure you will love it as much as I do. It maybe an ordinary story for some, but people, you will surely get something from it. There's something about Tiffany King's writing skills that you will find comfort and leaves you wanting and begging for more.

Been waiting for this book like forever and I'm glad it didn't disappoint. I finished reading Falling Into Us last night but I'm still in awe up to now. Jasinda Wilder has done it AGAIN and I'm seconds away in worshipping her. Yes, you read that right! She's writing in perfection. What I love about this novel is that it tugs at the heartstrings. You can feel a lot of emotions while reading this. It was mind blowing. So brace yourselves and prepare your tissues, people! This is truly a heartache you'll never forget. 

Forgive me if I can't give justice to this. I'll try my best to come up with a great review that is spoiler free as much as possible. 

Falling Into Us was written in Jason and Becca's POV. Gods, it was beautiful. We have known them as Nell and Kyle's best friend. In here, you will discover that there's something more in them than meets the eye. As we all know, their relationship started when Jason takes Becca to a date because Nell stands him up. Who would have thought that it’s going to be the start of something new? A relationship that will stand the test of time. I admired their story. I was captivated. It was perfect in its own way. They fall in love slowly - taking their time in knowing and discovering each other's flaws, deepest secrets, fighting their own demons and making their dreams into reality. 

Reading this will let you know how Nell and her friends handled Kyle's death. It was heart breaking and I was deeply affected. You will also meet Becca's brother, Ben, who broke my heart. He has a strong character. I've learned to love him and I was deeply saddened on how his story ends.

I never thought that I would love Jason and Becca. They were perfect in their own rights. I cried and laughed with them. I even swooned and held my breath at times. My favorite part of this book is the proposal and wedding. But I wouldn't give any details about it, you have to read it for yourselves, people. I'm sure you will love it as much as I do. 

I highly recommend this book. It has a depth in it. Sure, it was a long journey that includes struggles and pain, but I love how they overcome those things. It just made them stronger and wiser. They were inspirational, I'm sure you'll get something from their experiences.  I couldn't ask for a better ending, really. It was beyond amazing!

Book Review: Don't Hate The Player.. Hate The Game by Katie Ashley

Well, what can I say? Don't Hate The Player... Hate The Game is beautifully written. It was an amazing book. It had me crying from the start until the end. I was easily attached with the main character -Noah Sullivan, who lost his best friend, Jake from a tragic accident.

"Jake? Come on, Jake? Answer me you sorry ......! Tell me you being dead is just a joke you're pulling to keep from getting in trouble for skipping out today. Please Jake..."

I got emotional. Noah is in denial stage. How on earth could you overcome the grief and the pain that comes with it when there is so much to do and so much left unsaid? Jake's death was too sudden and too shocking. He left so soon. Noah and his friends shared the initial reaction of utter shock and disbelief. The hardest part is the realization that Jake would no longer be around for everything else.

"Don't be ashamed of your emotions, Noah. Experience them and embrace them. They're what makes us alive and strong"

This book has an emotional impact that once you got started, it’s hard to put it down. It’s an eye-opener. You could feel the sadness, heartache, drama, denial, hate, love, compassion, hope, acceptance and healing. Truly, losing the one you care so much your whole life in an instant is gut wrenching and heart breaking. You must grieve in your own way. If you want to cry, cry. If you need to talk, talk. There's nothing wrong in showing your emotions. It will help you to accept everything and you will be filled with sense of healing and desire to move on.

"This Bible will show you that no matter what happens with him, you're whole"

Reading this will remind you that when you're in your lowest point in life and you realized that the human solutions won't do, there is someone up there whom you could always turn to. Just believe, feel and see.

Eventually, everything will turn out well. Through that you'll be able to heal and truly accept everything that has happened. So never rush yourself into being "okay".

If there is something that I've learned upon reading this book is that never ever waste a single moment telling and showing the ones you love how much you appreciate and love them. Life is too short. You'll never know what will happen next.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to have a good read. I'm sure; you'll love it as much as I do. I was completely drawn into it. Kudos to Katie Ashley who did a brilliant job in this gorgeous novel. I was smiling after I finished this knowing that I gained some valuable life lessons while reading it.
